Former Residence of Zheng Jingheng

The Former Residence of Zheng Jingheng is a cultural tourism attraction.

Zheng Jingheng (1900–1927), originally named Yili or Yiming, was from Gushan Village, Jin?? Township, Wencheng County. In 1915, he was admitted to Rui’an Middle School, and from 1919 to 1923, he studied at Beijing Industrial University. After graduation, he was hired as a teacher at Zhejiang Provincial Industrial Specialized School. In 1926, he joined the Communist Party of China in Hangzhou. In April 1927, he was dispatched by the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC to Wenzhou to engage in agricultural movement and party work. He actively promoted revolutionary ideals and developed party organizations in Yongjia, Rui’an, and other areas. In October, the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC formulated the “Eastern Zhejiang Uprising Plan,” preparing to launch an uprising centered around Xiangshan Harbor and Shangyu on November 28, then expand to Wenzhou. In early November, Wang Jiamo, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Committee and head of the Organization Department, along with special envoys Zheng Jingheng and Zhou Ding, carried the “Eastern Zhejiang Uprising Plan” to Eastern and Southern Zhejiang to prepare for the uprising. At that time, the Provincial Committee headquarters of the CPC in Zhejiang was compromised, and the province-wide party organization registry and the “Eastern Zhejiang Uprising Plan” were seized. The Nationalist authorities in Zhejiang conducted large-scale arrests based on the registry. On November 12, Zheng Jingheng and others were arrested upon arriving in Wenzhou from Ningbo. On the 18th, he was executed on Zifu Mountain (now known as Huagai Mountain) in Wenzhou.

The Former Residence of Zheng Jingheng is located in Gushan Village, Jin?? Township, Wencheng County, and was built in the mid-Qing Dynasty. The residence covers a construction area of 210 square meters, has a concave shape, and is a quadrangle composed of 16 rooms, all two-story wooden structures. There is a stone path over one meter wide in front of the house, surrounded by a 1.5-meter-high stone wall, retaining the original architectural style of the residence.
