Zhou Ding (1897–1927), originally named Zhixian and also known as Jingzhi, was from Aoli Township, Xikeng Town, Wencheng County. From 1914 to 1915, he studied successively in Lishui and at Zhejiang Provincial No. 10 Middle School. In June 1919, he was admitted to the Beijing Law and Politics Specialized School. He graduated in 1924 and returned to his hometown, where he served as a Chinese language teacher at Nanshan Primary School in Aoli and later became the principal. In 1926, he joined the Communist Party of China in Shanghai and subsequently returned to his hometown to engage in underground revolutionary work, promoting the cause of saving the nation and its people. He recruited party members, introduced his own farmhand Zhou Futu and student Zheng Jiayi into the Party, and established the first Party branch in Wencheng—the Aoli Branch of the CPC—which he was elected to lead. On August 7, 1927, when the Party Central Committee held the August 7th Meeting, Zhou Ding traveled to Hangzhou to receive new assignments from the Zhejiang Provincial Committee, focusing on peasant movement and Party affairs. In October, the Zhejiang Provincial Committee of the CPC formulated the “Eastern Zhejiang Plan,” preparing to launch an uprising centered around Xiangshan Port and Shangyu on November 28, then expand to Wenzhou. In early November, Wang Jiamo, member of the Standing Committee of the Provincial Committee and head of the Organization Department, along with special envoys Zhou Ding and Zheng Jingheng, carried the “Eastern Zhejiang Plan” to Eastern and Southern Zhejiang to prepare for the uprising. At this time, the Zhejiang Provincial Committee headquarters of the CPC was raided, and the provincial Party organization roster along with the “Eastern Zhejiang Plan” were seized. The Kuomintang authorities in Zhejiang conducted a large-scale crackdown across the province based on the roster. On November 12, Zhou Ding and others were arrested upon arriving in Wenzhou from Ningbo. On the 18th, he was executed on Zifushan Mountain in Wenzhou (now known as Huagai Mountain).

Zhou Ding’s Former Residence is located in Aoli Village, Xikeng Town, Wencheng County, backed by mountains and surrounded by beautiful scenery. The residence is a quadrangle courtyard consisting of 18 rooms, built in the mid-Qing Dynasty, covering a construction area of 850 square meters. The residence has a concave layout, with two stories and a wooden structure, and features a 1.2-meter-high stone wall in front.
