Dongmin Deng Ancestral Hall

The Deng Ancestral Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Wencheng County.

The Deng Ancestral Hall is located at the southern foot of Zhutou Mountain in Dongmin Village, Donglong Township, Wencheng County (it was relocated to Jinyu Mountain in the county town due to the submersion caused by the Shanxi Water Control Project). Originally, it was a two-courtyard wooden structure with a surrounding corridor. The front courtyard and the stage have been demolished. It was built in the 52nd year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty (1787). The remaining main structure features a main hall that is seven bays wide and three bays deep. It is 19.5 meters wide and 9.93 meters deep. The structure uses a post-and-lintel system, with intricately carved moon beams. The sides are adorned with bas-reliefs of dragons and phoenixes, while the center features bas-relief patterns in the shapes of folding fans and circles, mainly depicting landscapes and flowers. The pillars are thick and nearly square, with a diameter of 28 centimeters. The column bases are made of wood and come in three styles: “tiger claw,” “single-line geometric,” and “flat geometric.”
