Qizhen Temple

Qizhen Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Wencheng County.

Qizhen Temple is located in Yan Tuben Village, Huangtan Town, Wencheng County. Originally built in the seventh year of the Yuanhe era during the Tang Dynasty (812), it was expanded in the fourth year of the Zhiping era of the Northern Song Dynasty (1067). It underwent several renovations during the Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties, but was later destroyed, leaving only the mountain gate and monks' quarters. In 1990, local residents raised funds to rebuild the temple, constructing along the central axis a mountain gate, Vajra Hall, Mahavira Hall, and Three Saints Hall. The temple covers an area of 3,060 square meters, with a built-up area of 969 square meters. The Mahavira Hall is five bays wide and three bays deep, featuring a post-and-lintel beam structure and a double-eave hip-and-gable roof. On the east and west sides of the Mahavira Hall are the Guanyin Hall and Dizang Hall, respectively. The mountain gate, Vajra Hall, Guanyin Hall, Dizang Hall, and Three Saints Hall all have single-eave hip-and-gable roofs with a through-tenon beam structure.

Huangtan Town: Huangtan Town is a township under the jurisdiction of Wencheng County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It is located in the southwestern part of Wencheng, about 10 kilometers from the county seat, covering an area of 75.8 square kilometers. The town administers 36 administrative villages with a population of 22,000. The elevation of the town center is 320 meters. It borders Jinlu Township to the east, Julu Town to the southeast, Shaxi Town to the south, Yunhu Township to the west, Fu’ao Township to the north, and Longchuan Township to the northeast.
