Yongning Hall

Yongning Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Wenzhou City.

Yongning Hall in Lucheng District is located at No. 82 Yongning Lane, Lucheng District, facing south with its back to the north, and features a traditional courtyard-style structure. The ceremonial gate is a three-bay, three-mountain-style flush-gable roof building. In the center of the courtyard is a liberation pond, which remains relatively clear after cleaning. There are four rooms on each side of the east and west corridors, featuring flush-gable roofs, with thatched-beam five-rafter ceilings. To the north of the courtyard is the main hall of Yongning Hall in Lucheng District, raised about 0.3 meters above the inner courtyard floor by three steps. The hall is a five-bay flush-gable roof structure, with the central bay having a depth of five pillars and eleven rafters, and the beam framework combining both raised-beam and through-tenon styles. The roof has ridges, with colored paintings on the ridge beams, and all four central golden pillars rest on inverted plate-style plinths.

Yongning Hall in Lucheng District was originally used by the Yongning Community. After the liberation, it was rented out to several factories by the housing management office. In 2007, local residents of Yongning Community leased it back and carried out renovation and restoration work. According to residents’ recollections, Yongning Hall in Lucheng District was originally a two-courtyard building, with another structure behind the main hall and a stage in front of the ceremonial gate, none of which exist today.

Yongning Hall in Lucheng District is a historic shrine, with the lane named after the hall. Its main beam and frame structures still retain the style of the early to mid Qing Dynasty, which is now quite rare.
