Former Site of Ouhai Public School Library

The former site of the Ouhai Public School Library is a cultural relic protection unit of Wenzhou City.

The former site of the Ouhai Public School Library is located by Jiushan Lake, south of Jiaoxiang Lane, with Wenzhou No. 4 Middle School to the north of the lane. The building has a chamfered quadrilateral floor plan and faces south. Each side features three bays in width, with one two-story bay at each chamfered corner. The windows and doors are fitted with half-round arched window hoods made of plastered brick. To the north of the building stands a single-brick wall with an isosceles trapezoidal façade, featuring a circular window opening in the center. The south side of the brick wall includes a stairwell with stone steps leading to the second floor. Some window hoods or columns are equipped with small vents. The façade is constructed of brick.

Ouhai Public School was founded in 1925 and was the largest private secondary school in the province at the time. Its founder, Gu ?D (1894–1975), led teachers and students of Yiwen Middle School to break away from the school association following the May Thirtieth Incident and established Ouhai Public School. The former site of the Ouhai Public School Library is the only remaining building from the original school. The library was built on the former site of Kuixing Pavilion by Jiushan Lake. In March 2002, it was registered during the third cultural relics survey of Zhejiang Province.
