Lin Mansion on Canghe Lane

Lin Mansion on Canghe Lane is a cultural relic protection unit of Wenzhou City.

The Lin Family Residence is located at No. 5, Lane 104, Canghe Lane, Cangqiao Community, Wuma Subdistrict, Lucheng District, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province. It faces south. The gate tower is situated slightly east of the central axis of the surrounding wall, in the Baroque style, with a bluestone lintel and a semi-circular gate canopy above. The back of the gate tower features brickwork imitating wooden structures, adorned with exquisite carvings, and has a brick eave with drip tiles. The gate tower and surrounding wall are surfaced with quartz sand, with a bluestone base beneath the wall. The pilasters at the base are carved with floral patterns in bluestone, and a brick screen wall stands directly opposite the central bay of the main house on the west side of the gate tower. To the north of the gate tower is a courtyard, where the ground level of the gate tower and main house is raised higher than that of the courtyard and the exterior ground. On the east and west sides of the courtyard are two wing rooms, each with a single bay and a flush gable roof, featuring intricately carved lattice doors. To the north of the courtyard is the main house, which is five bays wide, two stories high, with a flush gable roof, and constructed with a combination of brick and wood. It includes a front boat-shaped canopy corridor, with all wooden eave columns wrapped in brick piers and coated externally with quartz mortar to form columnar designs. The central hall of the main house features ten-panel lattice doors, behind which a staircase leads to the second floor, with a bottle-shaped handrail. The second-floor outer corridor is fitted with cross-carved wooden railings. The rear courtyard has a brick-and-wood gate tower and courtyard wall window grilles with geometric patterns. The Lin Family Residence has an intact layout and exquisite construction, representing a typical residential building from the modern era in our city, and holds certain artistic value.
