Dizang Bridge

Dizang Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Wenzhou City.

Dizang Bridge is located in Renzhaiqian, Lucheng District, commonly known as Shuixin Bridge. It was originally the essential bridge leading to Xishan. This seven-arch beam-style stone bridge runs from north to south, with a total length of 36 meters and a width of 2.45 meters. The central arch is about 6 meters high. Shaped like the character “八” (eight), the middle three arches allow boats to pass through. The bridge piers are simply constructed, each consisting of four parallel square stone columns topped with cap beams. Each arch is paved with five stone slabs engraved with floral, bamboo, and geometric patterns. On the east side of the central arch’s pavement, the three characters “地藏桥” (Dizang Bridge) are inscribed horizontally in the center. Characters are also carved on both sides from north to south and along the bridge edges. It is one of the earlier-built, longest-spanning, and best-preserved ancient stone beam bridges among the existing bridges in the urban area of our city. In August 1985, Dizang Bridge and others were announced by the Wenzhou Municipal People's Government as part of the second batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units.

Protected area: Extending five meters outward from the bridge’s end stones to the north and south, and ten meters outward to the east and west. No buildings or other structures are permitted; the water dock shall be retained, and the banyan tree on the southern bank shall be protected.
