Located 68 kilometers northwest of Taishun County, in the southern section of the Donggong Mountain Range at the border between Zhejiang and Fujian, Wuyanling is a remote area with high mountains, dense forests, sparse population, and limited transportation — historically described as “rarely visited by officials.” The reserve features 17 peaks over 1,000 meters above sea level, with the main peak Baiyunjian reaching 1,611 meters, making it the highest peak in Wenzhou and the source of the Feiyun River. The forest coverage within the reserve exceeds 98%. It preserves large areas of pristine evergreen broadleaf forest, earning it the title of “Green Treasure House of Southern Zhejiang.” Due to the regulating effect of the forest, the area enjoys mild winters and cool summers, with pleasant climate and air quality that surpasses national first-class standards. The reserve is home to 42 species of rare and ancient plants, including 16 classified as nationally endangered. Animal species include first-class protected animals such as the leopard and the white-necklaced partridge, as well as second-class protected animals such as macaques, short-tailed monkeys, pangolins, and large Indian civets. The area also produces renowned local specialties such as tea, mushrooms, wild kiwifruit, and stone frogs (spiny-breasted frogs), all considered exceptional products.
