This event is part of the "North District International...," jointly launched by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and South Village Co., Ltd., a long-time promoter of in-depth cultural tourism in Taipei.

The 11-day "Kangqinglong Winter Solstice Travelers' Life Festival" commenced with a lively opening in Taipei on December 22. It is the introductory event of the "North District International Lightspots Project," jointly initiated by the Tourism Bureau of the Ministry of Transportation and Communications and South Village Co., Ltd., which has long been promoting in-depth cultural tourism in Taipei. The festival invites everyone to experience a different lifestyle and way of travel in the urban setting of Taipei.

The "North District International Lightspots Project" is themed around "In-depth Tourism of Northern Taiwan’s Chinese Life and Culture." Its first phase integrates Taipei's "Kangqinglong Lifestyle District," turning the area’s lively, enjoyable, and fashionably refined local life culture into tourism resources. In the future, it will also incorporate the "Beitou Yangmingshan Hot Spring Cultural Lightspot" and the "Taipei Star Live House Lightspot," showcasing Taipei’s captivating essence of life culture to international travelers.

The "Kangqinglong" area primarily encompasses Yongkang Street, Qingtian Street, and Longquan Street. The district’s most distinctive feature is its collection of unique, characterful small shops and teahouses/restaurants that are eager to chat and share with visitors, offering travelers an experience of savoring life and a sense of lingering enjoyment—rather than just simple shopping or brief stops. From Kangqinglong, one can extend to Lishui Street, Jinhua Street, Chaozhou Street, Qingtian Street, Taishun Street, Wenzhou Street, Pucheng Street, and Shida Road, forming Taipei’s renowned cultural and educational district, known for its rich academic atmosphere.

From December 22 through New Year’s Day 2011, the "Kangqinglong Winter Solstice Travelers' Life Festival" will present 15 activities, including: "Kangqinglong: A Traveler’s Stroll to Earn a Living," "Travelers’ Teahouse: Winter Solstice Tangyuan," "Huiliu Ceramist Works Exhibition & Winter Solstice Longan & Red Date Tea Tasting," the Qiuhui Library’s "Taiwan Cultural Relics Exhibition," "Kangqinglong: Travelers’ Slow Market," "Kangqinglong: Ye Hall Tea Tasting Fun," "Travelers’ Teahouse: Taiwanese Tea Experience," "Valrhona Christmas Sweetness," "Kangqinglong: Short Film Sharing Session," "Kangqinglong: Taiwanese Puppet Fun," and "Kangqinglong: Jazz New Year’s Eve Concert." These will be presented in brochure format.
