Matou Village in Longgang Town, Fengshun County, was originally called Matou Village. The area is characterized by overlapping mountains and misty clouds and is a well-known old revolutionary base in the city. Known as the "Plateau of Meizhou," Matou Village boasts superior geographical conditions and is hailed as "one of the most suitable places in Meizhou for tea cultivation." Over 300 years ago, villagers began growing high-mountain green tea, mainly using the rare small-leaf oolong variety.

Matou Tea is produced on the elevated plateaus of Matou Village at altitudes between 915 to 956 meters. The tea undergoes a refined process of double roasting and double rolling, resulting in tightly rolled leaves with a grayish-green luster. It has a refreshing, mellow taste and a fragrant aroma, with an infusion that is greenish with a slight yellow tint. The tea tastes mellow and refreshing, with a richly fragrant and invigorating aroma that leaves a lasting aftertaste. Due to its excellent quality, Matou Tea has gradually become a renowned local tea and was named one of the Eight Famous Teas of Meizhou in 1984. Overseas Chinese residing in Southeast Asia and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan often ask someone to purchase or personally travel to Matou to buy several pounds of Matou Tea as a premium gift for family and friends when visiting their hometown.
