Xiangu Bridge

Xiangu Bridge is located at the water’s end of Xiangu Village, twenty kilometers from Luoyang County. It is the wooden arch bridge among those still existing in Taishun with the largest span.

Xiangu Bridge was first built in the fourth year of the Jingtai era of the Ming Dynasty (1453). Throughout history, it was washed away by floods numerous times and was reconstructed just as often. The Xiangu Bridge we see today was built in the twelfth year of the Kangxi era (1673), and it has a history of over 300 years. Due to the construction of a hydropower station upstream, and concerns that floodwaters might once again impact the aging structure during high discharge, Xiangu Bridge was fully renovated in March 2002, with the bridge abutments raised by 1.5 meters. Today, Xiangu Bridge stands majestically with a classic, timeless style that retains much of its former charm.
