Nanyang Bridge, also known as Yuyan Bridge, is located in Yantou Village, Sixi Town. This bridge is a cantilever-beam wooden flat bridge with a double-eave hip-and-gable roof, built in the ninth year of the Tongzhi reign.

The structural feature of Nanyang Bridge is the use of stone piers in the stream, over which wooden beams are stacked and extended horizontally to both sides. This bidirectional cantilevered wooden beam design can enhance the load-bearing capacity of the wooden beams while also providing a certain degree of longitudinal stability to the wooden columns. Many wooden bridges in the mountainous areas of Zhejiang adopt this type of construction.

Quick Tip:

1. This is a clan-based settlement where the Bao family resides. After visiting Nanyang Bridge, be sure to check out nearby historical sites such as the Bao Family Ancestral Hall and the Yuyan Cliff Inscriptions.

2. The scenery on both sides of Nanyang Bridge is very beautiful, with a strong rural charm.
