Taining Tulou

Taining Tulou is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Address: Shangjiaoyang Village, Luoyang Town, Taining County, Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province.

The tulou faces east, is a square two-story structure, and covers an area of 625 square meters. The outer walls are made of rammed earth with stone foundations. The interior consists of a two-story wooden structure with a double-sloped roof, arranged in a square layout with a central courtyard; it is five bays wide from east to west and four bays wide from north to south. A moat surrounds the building for defensive purposes. The Shangjiaoyang Tulou was built in the late Qing Dynasty by the Zeng family, who migrated from the Quanzhou area of Fujian and brought this architectural style with them.

The Shangjiaoyang Tulou is well-preserved and was listed as a Zhejiang Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit on March 16, 2005. In May 2013, it was included in the seventh batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
