Double Intersection Revolutionary History Memorial Pavilion

The Double Intersection Revolutionary History Memorial Pavilion is a classic red tourism destination.

Shuanglukou Village in Shiyang Town, Taishun County, is situated at the southernmost tip of Zhejiang Province, bordering Zherong County in eastern Fujian. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, it was an important part of the Min Dong Soviet Area led by Ye Fei.

In May 1934, the Fuan Central County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party established the Xiadingtai County Committee in Xiapu County (now Zherong County) in Fujian Province, the western part of Fuding County, and the southern part of Taishun County in Zhejiang Province. It had four district committees, with the second district headquartered in Shuanglukou Village within Taishun. The second district committee was also known as the Tainan District Committee or Paitou District Committee, with Zhang Litang as its secretary—this marked the first CCP district committee in Taishun. Three days after the establishment of the Tainan District Committee, the Tainan District Soviet Government was also declared, with Zhang Zihui as its chairman—this was the first district-level red government in Taishun. The expansion of the Min Dong Soviet Area into Taishun greatly strengthened the revolutionary forces in the region, and Shuanglukou Village became a reliable rear base for the Min Dong Soviet Area. On October 26 of that year, the 7th and 8th Detachments of the Xiading Red Army from the Min Dong Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army, together with over 100 members of the Red Guards from Dongping in Xiapu County and Paitou in Taishun County, attacked a Kuomintang stronghold in Shuanglukou Village, Shiyang Town, Taishun. They captured one militia captain, over ten militiamen, six local tyrants, and seized 14 rifles. The Battle of Shuanglukou eliminated the KMT’s central stronghold in the Tainan District, further consolidating the Soviet government there. During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, most villagers participated in revolutionary activities, and five locals sacrificed their lives heroically for the revolution.

The Double Intersection Revolutionary History Memorial Pavilion is located atop a hill at the end of Shuangxikou Village in Shiyang Town, Taishun County. It was built in 2005 with donations from the public. Climbing up a thousand stone steps, visitors reach the pavilion, which offers a commanding view of the beautiful scenery along the Zhejiang-Fujian border. The pavilion covers an area of 76 square meters and is an octagonal, rectangular-style antique pavilion. Inside the pavilion stands a memorial stele on a 1-square-meter base, with a height of 2.5 meters.
