Red Army Road Monument

The Red Army Road Monument is a classic site of red tourism.

During the Agrarian Revolutionary War, the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army Advance Detachment stationed in the eastern part of Taishun, establishing revolutionary bases through armed struggle. At that time, the region’s isolated transportation and rugged terrain were natural advantages that enabled the Red Army to survive and achieve victory.

After liberation, improving the backward transportation conditions became the greatest wish of the people in the old revolutionary base areas. Starting in August 1988, with strong support from governments at all levels, the local people overcame numerous difficulties. After more than ten years of effort, in September 1999, they completed a 42-kilometer road connecting Jiufeng through Fengwen to Fuzhang. The old revolutionary base area was thus transformed. Along this road are numerous revolutionary sites, including the former site where the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China for Fujian-Zhejiang Border was officially established, the founding site of the Communist Party of China South Zhejiang Special Committee, the former site of the Red Army Cave Hospital, the founding site of the 19th Red Army Division, as well as the battlefields of Fengwen, Sangang, Hupaling, and revolutionary stronghold villages. As a result, the local people named this road the “Red Army Road.” Zhang Wenbi, former political commissar of the Second Column of the Red Army Advance Detachment, commander of the Zhejiang Military District, and consultant to the Nanjing Military Region Command, proudly inscribed the words “Red Army Road” in June 1996. The Taishun County Committee and County People's Government of the Communist Party of China placed great importance on the development of revolutionary sites and natural landscapes along the Red Army Road. In April 1999, they established the Taishun County Scenic Tourism Development Leading Group and constructed commemorative structures such as the Red Army Advance Detachment Memorial Hall. On March 29, 2001, the Zhejiang Provincial People's Government approved the Red Army Road Scenic Route as a fifth-batch provincial-level scenic area.

The Red Army Road Monument is located in Fuzhang Village, Pengxi Town, Taishun County. Covering an area of 10 square meters, the monument stands 3 meters tall. On July 1, 2001, the Pengxi Town People's Government built this monument at the entrance of the Red Army Road in Fuzhang Village, Pengxi Town, and engraved a detailed Red Army Road visiting map on the base of the monument.
