Memorial Monument of Lingjiashan Revolutionary Fortress Village

The Memorial Monument of Lingjiashan Revolutionary Fortress Village is a classic site of red tourism.

In the winter of 1935, the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army Advancing Division entered the eastern part of Taishun and bordering areas of neighboring counties, establishing a revolutionary base. As the heartland of the Tai-Ping Revolutionary Base Area, Lingjiashan Village served as a regular station for the Red Army Advancing Division. The villagers helped the Red Army build up to 22 thatched huts and established the Gugongliao Communication Station. In April 1936, the Lingjiashan Party Branch of the Tai-Ping District Committee under the Ruiping-Tai Committee of the Chinese Communist Party was established, with Zhou Eryou as the secretary, leading over ten party members from three villages—Lingjiashan, Gutongkeng, and Qiantouzi—in revolutionary work. At the time, Lingjiashan Village had a total population of just over 120 people, yet 30 of them were involved in delivering messages, buying food, and keeping watch for the Red Army. In October of that year, the Provisional Provincial Committee of the Chinese Communist Party for the Fujian-Zhejiang Border Region and the Red Army Advancing Division came under enemy siege at Danzhuyang. They split into two routes and retreated to Lingjiashan for a four-day rest and recuperation, during which they reviewed their experiences and lessons. After the Fengwen Battle in February 1937, the Red Army Advancing Division strategically relocated and left the Tai-Ping Revolutionary Base Area. Red Army soldier Zhou Erzhao sacrificed heroically in the battle. The Nationalist army took the opportunity to carry out large-scale “pacification” campaigns in the region. By the end of April, the location of the “hospital” cave at Shuangxikou was exposed. Under the arrangement of the local party organization, more than ten wounded Red Army soldiers were secretly transferred to the Neiludong and Gugongliao caves in Lingjiashan to continue their treatment. During the enemy’s “pacification,” 12 party members and villagers, including Zhou Zuquan, were arrested, but none betrayed the wounded Red Army soldiers under torture. In the spring of 1943, Zhou Eryou, secretary of the Lingjiashan Party Branch, died a glorious death. The people of Lingjiashan made invaluable contributions to the revolutionary cause.

The Memorial Monument of Lingjiashan Revolutionary Fortress Village is located in Lingjiashan Village, Song?? Township, Taishun County, along the “Red Army Road” in Taishun. In September 2000, with assistance from relevant departments, the local village committee raised funds to construct the monument, memorial pavilion, and other facilities. Later, an entrance gate to the village, the Longwei Pond Dam, and a forest trail were also built, integrating with the monument and harmonizing with the natural landscapes of Lion Mountain and Dajiaoyan in the village.
