Siqian HuiLan Bridge

Siqian HuiLan Bridge is a cultural relic protection unit of Zhejiang Province.

HuiLan Bridge is located in Siqian Village, Siqian She Ethnic Town. It was built in the second year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1876) as a three-pier, four-arch stone bridge. The bridge is 85 meters long, 6 meters wide, and 13 meters above the water surface, with each arch spanning 12.5 meters. The piers are constructed from meticulously laid regular stone blocks, and the upper part of the central pier is inlaid with a plaque inscribed “HuiLan Bridge.” Stone railings are installed on both sides of the bridge deck, consisting of thirty-two pillars, each topped with carvings of lions, lotus flowers, and flat peaches. The central solid railing slab on the northwest side of the bridge is engraved with eight large characters: “Built by Tao Hualong and his son Tao Lin.” On the southeast side of the bridge is an embedded stone plaque inscribed with: “Tao Hualong, granted the title of Prefectural Scholar by the Qing court, along with his son Tao Lin, bestowed the title of County Magistrate, constructed this.” Two stone steles stand at the southwest end of the bridge: “HuiLan Bridge Inscription” and “HuiLan Bridge Stele.” In January 2017, it was listed as part of the seventh batch of provincial-level cultural relic protection units in Zhejiang Province.

Siqian She Ethnic Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Taishun County. At the time of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it was known as Siqian Township. In 1958, it became Siqian She Ethnic Township, then shortly after was renamed Siqian Management District. In 1962, it was called a commune, and in 1984, it reverted to being called Siqian She Ethnic Township. In 1992, it merged with Ligang Township to establish Siqian She Ethnic Town. Located in the northern part of the county, it borders Jingning to the northwest and is adjacent to Wencheng to the northeast, 13 kilometers from Luoyang. It covers an area of 114.5 square kilometers, with a population of 11,000, of which She people make up 26.6%. The provincial highway Y (un) – S (houning) runs through the area.
