Lin Jian’s Tomb

Lin Jian’s Tomb is a cultural relic protection unit of Taishun County.

Lin Jian’s Tomb is located in Xiabridge Village, Sixi Town, Taishun County. It features a chair-style design, with a stele in front of the tomb inscribed “Tomb of Lin Jian, Founding Ancestor of the Jinan Clan and Tang Dynasty Inner Historian.” The site includes a semicircular bluestone tomb corridor, stretching 21 meters in length and 16 meters in width. It was built in the third year of the Jianlong era of the Song Dynasty (962) and renovated in the 22nd year of the Daoguang era of the Qing Dynasty (1842). Lin Jian (885–962) originally resided in Jianyang, became the Inner Historian of the Cabinet at the age of 20, and relocated to live in seclusion in Sixi in the second year of the Jianlong era of the Song Dynasty (961). He passed away on the thirteenth day of the twelfth month of that same year and was buried in Xiabridge, Sixi, where he is regarded as the founding ancestor of the Lin family of Sixi.

Xiabridge Village: Known as the “Swirling Waters of Sishui,” Xiabridge Village in Sixi Town is a mountain valley basin formed by the convergence of four streams — the South Stream, East Stream, North Stream, and West Stream. The streams are flanked by expansive rice paddies, with terraced fields climbing up the surrounding hillsides. Human settlement in Xiabridge Village dates back to the Tang Dynasty. Major surnames in the village include Lin, Tang, and Chen. The founding ancestor of the Lin family, Lin Jian, was originally from Jianyang in Fujian. He served as Inner Historian of the Cabinet during the Tang Dynasty. After the fall of the Tang, he refused to serve under the Later Liang and relocated from Beiluo Village in Putian, Fujian, to Longxuyan in Xiaocun in the third year of the Tongguang era of the Later Tang (925).
