Window of She Ethnic Culture Scenic Area in Dajun is located in Dajun Village, the seat of Dajun Township Government, 13 kilometers from the county town. It is an ecological demonstration site in Jingning County, Zhejiang Province, and was approved as a National AAAA-level tourist attraction in 2009. The ancient village of Dajun was first built in the late Tang and early Five Dynasties period. For over a thousand years, it has been a key hub for water and land transportation along the Xiaoxi River, a tributary of the Ou River, enjoying relatively prosperous commerce and trade. The local culture also placed great emphasis on the pursuit of both farming and scholarship, giving rise to the Dajun people’s folk custom of valuing the “three poles”: the writing brush, the weighing scale, and the bamboo pole (used as a boat pole), making a living through writing contracts, drafting documents, doing business, and poling boats or rafts. Architecturally, the area features the simple style of Ming and Qing-era mountainous trading streets with front shops and back courtyards, as well as flagstone-paved streets, earning it reputations such as the “Pearl of the Xiaoxi River,” the “Highest Institution of Learning in Jingning,” and the “Hibiscus Town of Southern Zhejiang.”

In the past, there were ten scenic spots known as Ancient Camphor Tree Welcoming Guests, Moon Reflected in Clear Pool, Layered Greenery of Dragon Ridge, and Chengmei Covered Bridge. Based on these, and with She ethnic culture as its theme, the scenic area integrates natural landscapes and cultural heritage. The first phase of development introduced projects such as She ethnic wedding customs and the Floating Umbrella Raft Ride, creating a suburban ecotourism destination focused on leisure, water activities, and sightseeing.

The Dajun Rafting Project, launched and put into use in 1998, is a key tourism initiative in our county. It was once rated by the provincial rafting expert group as the most thrilling among all major rafting courses in the province. The bamboo rafting course features ten pools, nine rapids, four cliffs, and one reef cluster, creating a spectacular interplay of rapids and pools. Rubber rafting is thrilling yet safe, with surging rapids, crashing waves, and thrilling descents that offer a 100% adrenaline rush. At the same time, visitors can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the She ethnic region—charming pools, unique peaks, lush forests, peculiar rocks, and the simple locals—as well as the picturesque beauty of the legendary Floating Umbrella Ancient Ferry. Travelers often say: Floating Umbrella Fairy Pool, the Number One in the South of the Yangtze.
