such as the focus of climbing and the perseverance of hiking,

the courage of skiing and the patience of fishing,

or the exhilaration of water sports... 

Each outdoor activity has its own unique charm,

and every outdoor enthusiast has a treasure trove of adventure stories,

and if you’re willing to listen, they could tell you stories for three days and nights...

 

From June 30 to July 3, 2016,

at the Water Sports Zone of the Asia Outdoor Exhibition,

there will be such a group of people with stories

coming to the 11th Asia Outdoor Exhibition,

to share their "Fantastic Waterborne Drifting Tales"...

Water Sports Salon

On the afternoon of July 1 from 13:00 to 17:00, the Asia Outdoor Exhibition, in collaboration with the China Canoeing Sports Alliance, will host a Water Sports Salon. Eight seasoned paddlers will share their adventurous tales from years on the water and bring you the latest updates on water sports.

1986, Participated in the "China Yangtze River Scientific Expedition Rafting Team" as a helmsman, completed a 176-day, over 6,000-kilometer drift

1998, Drifted down the Yarlung Tsangpo River as deputy team leader and head coach, completed a 130+ day, over 1,500-kilometer drift

2004, Led a team to raft the Colorado River in the U.S., over 20 days, covering 370 kilometers

2008, Beijing Olympic Torchbearer

2009, Awarded “Contemporary Chinese Xu Xiake” of the year

Currently serves as a council member of the China Association for Scientific Expedition and as the chief rafting consultant to the Yushu Municipal Government of Qinghai

Accumulated personal drifting distance exceeds 10,000 kilometers, making him one of the world’s most experienced long-distance drifters. In 2009, he was hailed by CNr.cn (China National Geography Network) as the “First Person to Drift 10,000 Miles.”

In July 2012, organized the first whitewater kayak training session in Jingning, Lishui, inviting athletes from Canada and the UK to conduct rafting technique and safety rescue training

In August 2012, rafted on the Jiaojia Beach section of the Yu River in Chongqing, the Dadu River in Sichuan, and the Mazi Gou section of the Jiulong River in Sichuan

From 2013 to the present, began systematically conducting whitewater rafting training, becoming the first whitewater training organization in mainland China, with trainees coming from all over the country, many of whom are club leaders or trip organizers

In February 2014, participated in the first Red Bull Canoe Surfing Competition on the Nu River and won third place in the water hole freestyle event, also becoming the first athlete in mainland China to perform a front flip in rapids

In September 2014, participated in the Yellow River International Whitewater Slalom Race and won third place in the team category

In February 2015, participated in the second Red Bull Kayak Challenge and served as the technical commentator for the water hole freestyle event during the live TV broadcast

In February 2016, attended the first domestic ACA Level 4 Whitewater Instructor Training in the U.S. and obtained the Level 4 Instructor certification. Authorized to independently issue ACA Level 4 student certifications.

In June 2016, served as an instructor at the first China Canoeing Association Coach Training Course.

Besides exciting adventure stories, the Water Sports Zone has partnered with Nanjing Sailfish Club to offer a special water sports experience class for youth.

 

In addition to sharing thrilling adventure tales, the Water Sports Zone has collaborated with Sailfish Club to specifically design a water sports experience course for teenagers, aiming to deliver a unique water activity experience for the kids.Sailfish Club will send veteran coach Lao Yu, who holds an ACA (American Canoe Association) Level 4 certification and also possesses Senior Level 3 Open Water Kayaking qualifications,to the site to explain to the participating young audiencekayak equipment and key technical points.
