The Pan Family Ancestral House
The Pan Family Ancestral House (No. 44–48 Dazhong Street, Hexi Town · Qing Dynasty) faces south,
and has a traditional three-sided courtyard layout. Built in the 10th year of the Daoguang reign of the Qing Dynasty (1830), the Pan family house covers a construction area of approximately 440 square meters. The entrance gate is a three-bay, three-story structure with elaborate brick carvings, featuring the inscription “Love Finds Its Place” on the lintel and beautifully sculpted ridge ornaments. The main hall is five bays wide and seven bays deep, with a flush gable roof. The central bay features a post-and-lintel timber frame, while the front eaves are flanked by east and west wing rooms, each two bays wide and three bays deep. The central courtyard is paved with cobblestones arranged in a plum blossom pattern. The entire structure is relatively well-preserved and holds significant cultural heritage value for the study of Qing Dynasty architectural styles in Jingning.
