Quzhou Yaowang Mountain is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Yaowang Mountain Scenic Area, a national 4A-level tourist attraction, is located within the Ziwu Mountain National Forest Park. It is part of the Lanke Mountain–Wuxi River Provincial Scenic Area and is recognized as a provincial eco-tourism destination. Covering an area of 15 square kilometers with a forest coverage rate of over 95%, the area is steeped in legend—China’s first legendary medicine king, the Yan Emperor Shennong, is said to have tasted hundreds of herbs, washed and pounded medicinal plants, and prepared elixirs here to save the people, while the famous physician Sun Simiao once lived in seclusion in the mountains, hence the name Yaowang Mountain. The scenic area is divided into three major zones: Shennong Valley, Mawei Waterfall, and the Stone Forest Cluster. Notable spots include: Ancient Trees, Yi Xian Bridge, Shenmu Plank Walk, Shennong Valley, Three Ancestors Peak, Stone Gate Locking the Flood Dragon, Shennong Waterfall, Ten Questions Pavilion, Tianmen Bridge, Herbal Garden, Zhongli’s Seclusion Spot, Medicinal Cuisine Restaurant, Huisheng Bridge, Bulao Bridge, Jishi Bridge, Qianjin Bridge, Wuxing Bridge, Four Gentlemen Bridge, Rescue the Tiger Bridge, Yaowang Residence, Bagua Spring, Zhimu Bridge, Wild Monkey Flat, Heavenly Weaving Maiden’s Laundry Spot, Imperial Flower Bonsai, Wan Ying Corridor Bridge, Mawei Waterfall, Ganlu Pavilion, Eight Immortals Corridor, Immortal’s Hidden Grottoes, Immortal’s Path, Altar, Sanmiao Pavilion, Jin Bu Huan Bridge, Jiuxian Tower, and Lily Bridge. The various attractions are interspersed throughout the area in a well-arranged layout, featuring a myriad of competing peaks, lush bamboo and forests, birdsongs, and fragrant flowers—vividly showcasing the area’s natural characteristics of grandeur, wonder, danger, spirituality, beauty, serenity, and seclusion. The geological formations date back to the Late Jurassic or Cretaceous periods, around 100–150 million years ago. Geologically, the area belongs to the “Judragon Summit Volcanic推测 Eruption Center,” consisting of volcaniclastic rocks, granite, and gneiss, which are part of the Yanshanian volcanic rock formations. The terrain is marked by crisscrossing valleys and ravines in classic “V” shapes, and its landforms are similar to those of Huangshan and Sanqing Mountains, characterized by igneous peak landscapes and localized danxia formations—creating a dramatic landscape of clustered peaks and deep valleys.

The Yaowang Mountain Scenic Area boasts exceptional natural ecological preservation, with vegetation coverage exceeding 95%, earning it the titles “Green Lung of Western Zhejiang” and “Natural Oxygen Bar.” Its unique geographical location and climatic conditions nurture abundant flora and fauna. It is one of the largest repositories of plant and animal life in western Zhejiang, home to approximately a thousand plant species—including rare ones such as manglietia fordiana, yew, and podozamites—and over 500 varieties of precious medicinal herbs, including Paris polyphylla, selaginella tamariscina, clematis armandii, coptis chinensis, pinellia ternata, salvia miltiorrhiza, and lonicera japonica, truly making it a “paradise for nurturing herbs,” hence its longstanding reputation as Yaowang Mountain. The area is also inhabited by 12 species of nationally protected mammals (Class I and II), including tigers, leopards, black muntjacs, macaques, small Indian civets, serows, goats, tufted deer, and pangolins—especially notable for its hundreds of wild monkeys, as well as wild boars, foxes, squirrels, and muntjacs. There are also 2 species of rare birds, over 20 species of ornamental birds such as mandarin ducks, mountain sparrows, bulbuls, and orioles, 4 species of amphibians, and over 20 species of fish, making it a thriving haven for wildlife.

Public Transport: Take Bus No. 1 from downtown to Juhua, then transfer to the dedicated Yaowang Mountain shuttle bus directly to the site. Alternatively, take Bus No. 1 to Juhua, then transfer to Bus No. 545 to Yaowang Mountain.
