Jiutan Valley

Jiutan Valley is a national A-level tourist attraction.

Officially known as the Jiutan Valley Geological Science Scenic Area, it is located 16 kilometers from downtown Quzhou, at the junction of the Tianji Longmen, Yaowangshan, and Jiulong Lake scenic areas, within a provincial-level scenic spot. It can be reached by traveling one kilometer south from the Jiulong Entertainment City in Huangtankou. The valley features exposed bedrock, giant stones, dan wells, and green pools that form a unique geological landscape. Along its two-kilometer stretch of porphyritic granite, cascading streams and waterfalls are lined with nearly a hundred small-mouthed, large-bellied “rock cavities,” known as “glacial potholes” or “dan wells,” showcasing nature’s wonders. The “Nine Altars” consist of the Immortal Altar, Community Altar, Longevity Altar, Nine Altar, Purple Altar, Yellow Altar, Golden Altar, Fortune Altar, and Jade Altar, making it a scenic area that combines tourism, leisure, picnicking, and fishing.
