Baidao Valley Scenic Area

Baidao Valley Scenic Area is located in Baidao Valley Village, Xitianzhuang Town, Miyun County, Beijing. It is surrounded by mountains on three sides, faces Miyun Reservoir to the east, connects to the plain in the south, links to the Sanyu Scenic Area to the west, and lies against the Yunmeng Mountain Range to the north. It is 75 kilometers from Dongzhimen in Beijing, with a drive of 1–1.5 hours, and just a 12-minute drive from Miyun County.

The scenic area features a superior ecological environment, nestled against mountains and encircled by water, tranquil with majestic peaks, surrounded by greenery, and dotted with ancient trees. Especially noteworthy is the Northern China’s largest natural karst cave (Shenxian Cave) located within the Dayu Mountain of the scenic area. The area still preserves historical remnants such as the walls of an ancient military camp, tribal ruins (including walls, stone mortars, and related stoneware), a natural village over 500 years old, temples, remains of ancient architecture, the Zigzag Great Wall, and relics of the Song Dynasty’s Mengliang Fortress, among more than ten historical and cultural sites. Particularly precious is the rich historical ambiance and cultural brilliance that permeate the area. Climate conditions: average annual temperature. Baidao Valley Scenic Area has a warm temperate monsoon continental semi-humid and semi-arid climate. In winter, it is influenced by the Siberian and Mongolian high-pressure systems, while in summer, it is affected by the continental low-pressure and Pacific high-pressure systems. The four seasons are distinct, with noticeable changes in dryness, wetness, cold, and warmth. The annual average temperature is 10.8°C. Sunshine is particularly abundant.
