Former Site of the Xin Hai Lian Special Committee

The Former Site of the Xin Hai Lian Special Committee is a classic red tourism attraction.

The courtyard at No. 31 Xinshi Road in Xinpu was the site of the East Asia Grand Hotel in the 1930s. In March 1938, according to directives from the Yangtze River Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, special envoys Zhang Ji Jiren (Zhang Wenhai) and Liu Mansheng (Gu Mu), together with underground CPC members from Shandong such as Wu Zhigang and Li Xin, established an underground CPC working committee within the 112th Division of the 57th Army stationed in the Xin Hai region. Wu Zhigang served as secretary, with Liu Mansheng and Li Xin as committee members. They often held meetings to discuss their work in the small ground-floor room at the eastern end of the north building in the courtyard. After the liberation of the Xin Hai Lian area, it became the headquarters of the CPC Xin Hai Lian Special District Committee. It now houses the Lianyungang Folk Museum.
