Taowan Site

The Taowan Site is a cultural heritage site protected at the provincial level in Jiangsu Province.

The Taowan Site is located at the southeastern foot of Jinping Mountain in Taowan Village, Jinping Town, Haizhou District. It is a site dating from the Neolithic Age to the Han Dynasty, covering an area of 50,000 square meters. Artifacts unearthed at the Taowan Site include coarse red sand pottery and clam shells from the Neolithic Age, pottery shards from the Shang and Warring States periods, and celadon shards from the Han Dynasty onward.

The Mayaoling Site has yielded flat-bottomed pottery bowls and coarse sandy pottery jar fragments from the Neolithic Age. Stone tools made by percussion have also been collected from the surface of the site. The Mayaoling Site holds significant historical value for exploring the ancient culture of our city. It was designated as one of the first batch of cultural heritage protection units in Lianyungang City in 1982.
