Nancheng Chenghuang Temple

Nancheng Chenghuang Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Lianyungang City.

Nancheng Chenghuang Temple is located at the foot of the northeastern hill in Nancheng Town, Xinpu District. The original site was the former location of Puzhao Temple from the Xianchun period (1265–1274) of the Song Dynasty. It was rebuilt in the Gengshen year of the Kangxi reign during the Qing Dynasty (1680). The temple foundation is 40 meters wide from east to west and 60 meters long from north to south, with a total of 34 halls arranged symmetrically along a central axis in three sections. The main structures consist of the front, middle, and rear halls. Side gates connect the eastern and western sides of all three halls, and there are also side rooms on the east and west. The architectural complex covers an area of approximately 2,400 square meters. This structure holds certain value for the study of local folk history and provides physical material for researching early Qing Dynasty architecture. It was designated as part of the second batch of cultural relic protection units of Lianyungang City in 1993.
