The former auditorium of Haizhou Senior High School is a cultural relic protection unit of Lianyungang City.

The former auditorium of Haizhou Senior High School is located at No. 105 Qindongmen Street, Haizhou District, Lianyungang City. The predecessor of Haizhou Senior High School was the Haizhou Stone Chamber Academy and Haizhou Governmental Middle School, which once nurtured outstanding figures such as Shen Yunpei, Zhu Lu, Zhang Tingrui, and Li Yinggeng. In the 32nd year of the Guangxu reign (1906), local gentry including Shen Yunpei and Huang Daochuan established Haizhou Middle School, which became the highest educational institution in Haizhou at the time, marking the beginning of modern education in the Haizhou region. Shen Yunpei served as the first supervisor of Haizhou Governmental Middle School, followed by Lu Dianhu as the second supervisor, both of whom cultivated a large number of talents for the region. During the Republic of China period, the school was successively renamed as Provincial No. 11 Middle School, Donghai Middle School, and Donghai Normal School, continuing to produce many elites for society. In the 27th year of the Republic of China (1938), the campus was bombed by Japanese aircraft and completely destroyed. None of the buildings, including the auditorium, survived. It wasn't until after the founding of the People’s Republic of China that the Haizhou city wall was demolished, and its bricks were used to rebuild school buildings, the auditorium, walls, and other auxiliary structures, forming the Xinhailian Junior Middle School, which was later renamed Haizhou Middle School.

Both Haizhou Senior High School and Haizhou Governmental Middle School were established on the original site of the Haizhou Stone Chamber Academy. The old campus of Haizhou Senior High School is the most completely preserved educational site founded by Shen Yunpei in Lianyungang. As the origin of over two hundred years of education in the Haizhou region, it has made contributions to revitalizing local scholarly culture and sustaining the roots of cultural education.
