The former site of the Xinpu Bank Building is a cultural relic protection unit of Lianyungang City.

Former Site of the Xinpu Bank Building

Located at No. 55 Jiefang Middle Road, Haizhou District, Lianyungang City. In 1939, after the Japanese invaders occupied Xinpu, it was constructed under the initiative of the "Reserve Bank Office", designed by Japanese engineers, and contracted to the Fuchang Construction Company, and completed in 1945. The two-story building stands 17 meters tall, featuring gray walls and a red-tiled hipped roof, covering an area of approximately 680 square meters. This structure reflects a blend of European and traditional Japanese architectural styles that emerged after Japan’s Meiji Restoration. In August 1945, the surrender signing ceremony of the Japanese forces stationed in Xinpu was held in the hall of the bank building. After Japan's surrender, it was taken over by the Central Bank of the Nationalist Government. Following the founding of the People’s Republic of China, it has been in continuous use by the Lianyungang Branch of the People's Bank of China. The building serves as physical evidence for the study of Japanese militarism's invasion history of China and offers reference value for the research of modern architectural art.

In 1987, it was announced as one of the first batch of district-level cultural relic protection units by the People's Government of Xinpu District. In 2010, it was listed as the fourth batch of municipal-level cultural relic protection units in Lianyungang — the Former Site of the Xinpu Bank Building.

Five meters from the east and west exterior walls, extending south to the north boundary line of Jiefang Middle Road, and north to the southern exterior wall of the Supply and Marketing Building.
