Lianyungang Stone Cave Petroglyphs

The Lianyungang Stone Cave Petroglyphs are a protected cultural heritage site of Lianyungang City.

Lianyungang Stone Cave Petroglyphs

They are primarily located in Jinping Mountain in Haizhou District, Zhongyuntai Mountain in Lianyun District, Nanyuntai Mountain in Haizhou District, Dayi Mountain in Guanyun County, and Malingshan Mountain in Donghai County. These petroglyphs mostly consist of individually hand-ground circular stone cavities, some of which are surrounded by square chessboard-like carvings. Some patterns are believed to represent celestial star formations, hence they are commonly known as “Star Pattern Stones.” Experts suggest that these stone cave petroglyphs were used for ritual purposes during the Neolithic Age.

They were designated as part of the fourth batch of protected cultural heritage sites of Lianyungang City in 2010.

Protected Area:

A 20-meter radius extending outward from the center of each individual stone cave petroglyph.

Construction Control Zone:

A 50-meter radius extending outward from the center of each individual stone cave petroglyph.
