Longhai Apartment is a cultural heritage site protected by Lianyungang City.

Longhai Apartment

It is situated at the eastern end of Minzhong Middle Road, Haizhou District, Lianyungang City. Constructed in the early 1920s, it was named after the building of the Longhai Railway. The structure is a two-story quadrangle-style building comprising 23 rooms across its upper and lower levels. The inner courtyard includes features such as staircases, colonnades, and skylights, decorated with painted patterns or carvings, presenting a dignified and refined ambiance. The main gate bears a regular script plaque inscribed with the words “Longhai Apartment,” flanked by auspicious phrases such as “Gathered are both the young and the elder,” “All the esteemed have arrived,” and “Welcoming Guests.” The building stands approximately 12 meters tall and covers a floor area of about 260 square meters. In the early stages of the Anti-Japanese War, the underground working committee of the 112th Division of the newly formed 57th Army of the Chinese Communist Party (originally part of the Northeast Army) actively carried out revolutionary activities here, recruiting patriotic soldiers into the Party. In 1987, upon the decision of the Lianyungang Municipal Committee of the CCP, it was repurposed as a revolutionary memorial museum, becoming an important site for patriotic and revolutionary tradition education for the general public and especially the youth.

It was designated as one of the second batch of cultural heritage sites protected by Lianyungang City in 1993. In 2003, Longhai Apartment was demolished due to urban redevelopment. In 2011, the modern new building of the Lianyungang Revolutionary Memorial Museum was completed on Chaoyang East Road, directly opposite the municipal government. Longhai Apartment was also reconstructed and relocated within the museum grounds.
