Guan Tianpei Temple

Introduction: In East City Street of Chuzhou lies a solemn and ancient temple — Guan Zhongjie’s Ancestral Hall, built to commemorate the national hero Guan Tianpei. Originally consisting of three main halls and two wing rooms, it is enclosed within an old-fashioned flower-walled courtyard. On the shrine platform stands a vivid statue of Guan Tianpei in official attire, flanked by two attendants holding a sword and a book respectively. A long horizontal plaque inscribed with “Guan Zhongjie’s Ancestral Hall” hangs above the entrance to the memorial hall. On both sides of the hall are elegiac couplets written by Lin Zexu and calligraphed by the master calligrapher Zhou Muzhai, displayed on nanmu wood. Guan Tianpei’s Tomb is located in Jiucun Village, Nanyao Township, east of the city. Beside the tomb, streams flow gently and pine and cypress trees tower overhead. Together with Guan Zhongjie’s Ancestral Hall, it serves as an important patriotic education base in Huai’an City. Transportation: Accessible via Bus No. 63
