Music, dance, and camping—all for the thrill of celebration. Passion, health, delicious food, and joy were all part of the third Dazong Lake Outdoor Camping Music Festival, which exploded onto the scene over two days of music and culinary revelry at Dazong Lake in Yancheng, Jiangsu from September 16–17, 2017.
The first-ever camping music festival themed around "hip-hop music" grandly opened and achieved great success at the Dazong Lake Scenic Area in Yancheng, Jiangsu. The event was hosted by the Yancheng Dazong Lake Tourism Resort, with the RV camping segment organized and implemented by Nanjing Haimoni Culture Development Co., Ltd., and supported by the Traveling Lifestyle Network. Now in its third consecutive year, the Dazong Lake Outdoor Camping Music Festival aims to showcase the area’s outstanding tourism resources and unique cultural appeal through fresh and popular formats and leisure activities—inviting more domestic and international visitors to explore Dazong Lake and further establish its distinctive boutique tourism brand.

During the event, radio DJs (renowned local musicians) from eight cities across Jiangsu—including Nantong, Yangzhou, Taizhou, Yancheng, Lianyungang, Huai’an, Suqian, and Xuzhou—joined their loyal fans to rock out together at the hip-hop music festival. The DJ concert introduced a team PK format, with winning cities selected through city DJ performance battles, audience interaction, and live WeChat voting. Both the winning DJs and their fan groups received attractive prizes.

Popular contestant Li Daben from *The Rap of China* also delivered an electrifying and stunning musical performance, interacting with the audience in his unique style and sending the Dazong Lake Hip-Hop Music Festival into overdrive, igniting the enthusiasm of thousands.
In addition, over a hundred RV enthusiasts from the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai regions participated in the outdoor camping festival. More than thirty RVs set up camp at the Dazong Lake Green Hill Campsite. These RV lovers used their mobile homes to introduce visitors to this emerging leisure destination, while also sharing their passion for nature and love of life.
The sunset at Dazong Lake’s Green Hill Campsite in autumn is truly not to be missed. As gentle lake breezes rise and cool air brushes against your hair, the silhouette of RVs against the setting sun creates a breathtakingly beautiful dusk scene on the lake.
Using music as a bridge, the festival helps boost tourism development at Dazong Lake. Though the 2017 phenomenon-level variety show *The Rap of China* has come to an end, its impact on the tourism and commercial markets may just be beginning. The show demonstrated that even niche, segmented markets can possess strong mass-market commercial potential. Although segmented tourism remains in its early stages compared to the broader tourism market, with ongoing market evolution and rising consumer expectations, it is an undeniable fact that niche tourism is gradually gaining momentum and showing a significant upward trend.
Centered around a bold and unbounded hip-hop music theme—complemented by immersive outdoor and RV camping experiences close to nature—the Dazong Lake Hip-Hop Camping Music Festival has forged a path from traditional sightseeing tourism toward "cultural IP"-based tourism. It has driven tourism development both at Dazong Lake and in the surrounding areas, becoming a vibrant highlight in the tourism landscape.
