Former Site of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China’s Central China Bureau in Huai'an

The Former Site of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China’s Central China Bureau in Huai'an is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a Classic Red Tourism Scenic Area, and a Patriotic Education Base.

On the 65th anniversary of the establishment of the Central China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, the Memorial Hall of the Former Site of the Central China Bureau was completed and opened in Chuzhou District, Huai'an City, Jiangsu Province. It recreates historical moments of the older generation of revolutionaries strategizing and achieving victories, attracting over a thousand visitors and tourists to stop and view.

On October 25, 1945, in accordance with instructions from the Party Central Committee, the Central China Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and the Central China Military Region were established in Huai'an. Deng Zihui and Tan Zhenlin served as the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Central China Bureau, respectively; Zhang Dingcheng was appointed Commander of the Central China Military Region, with Su Yu and Zhang Aiping as Deputy Commanders. The Central China Bureau unified the leadership of the party, government, and military work in 73 counties and cities across Central China, covering an area of approximately 200,000 square kilometers and a population of over 23 million. It carried out extensive work in striving for peace and democracy, preparing for self-defense warfare, consolidating political power construction, and promoting economic development, achieving many remarkable accomplishments such as the “Seven Victories in Seven Battles” in Central Jiangsu and the land reform in E’qian Township. In September 1947, the Central China Working Committee was established, marking the fulfillment of the Central China Bureau’s glorious historical mission.

On October 7, 2019, the Former Site of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China’s Central China Bureau in Huai'an was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
