Boundary Garden between Northern and Southern China

The landmark on the dividing line will be integrated with an existing historic bridge pier in Huai'an (the planned "Red Bridge"). Originally built in the 1930s, this bridge has witnessed the vicissitudes of Huai'an's history. By merging the boundary landmark with this historically significant old bridge pier, it not only adds to the city’s unique character but also enriches its cultural significance. The design of the landmark takes the form of a sphere, located at the midpoint of the Red Bridge and also at the centerline of the river channel. Based on the spherical structure, it is divided into a northern and a southern hemisphere — the northern half features a gradient of cool tones, while the southern half uses a gradient of warm tones, symbolizing the distinct climatic characteristics of the Earth’s northern and southern regions. Visitors can walk through the sphere to experience the sensory changes of crossing between climate zones.
