Meihua Bay Scenic Area

The Meihua Bay Scenic Area is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

The Meihua Bay Scenic Area is located approximately 3 kilometers northwest of the main urban area of Dafeng District, Yancheng City, adjacent to the Dafeng North Exit of the Yancheng-Luoyang Expressway. Covering an area of over 3,000 acres, the scenic area features more than 20,000 plum blossom trees representing about 200 varieties. With plum blossoms, classical-style architecture, water features, and night scenery as its four main highlights, the area also incorporates attractions such as the Thirty-Two Pavilions of Meihua Bay, the Plum Culture Museum, the Meihua Bay Holiday Hotel, and a water park. It is the only large-scale, comprehensive plum blossom culture-themed tourist destination in northern Jiangsu that integrates sightseeing, leisure, entertainment, and fitness experiences.

Water Features:

The scenic area boasts an intricate network of waterways, totaling 7 kilometers of navigable routes for boats, and features a lake of nearly 400 acres with two green islands. The area offers around 20 different types of boats and vessels for visitors to explore. Along the waterfront, dozens of aquatic plants such as lotus and water lilies are planted.

Greening Landscape:

The land within the scenic area is divided into over 20 green spaces ranging from 3 to 14 meters in height, creating rich and beautiful landforms and scenery. Green areas account for 80% of the total land space, with trees and shrubs as well as evergreen plants each making up over 60% of the greenery. The area is home to more than 200 species of plants, including camphor trees, ginkgo trees, magnolia, hackberry, elm, weeping willows, koelreuteria, red maples, osmanthus, podocarpus, cherry blossoms, crabapple, and aquatic plants. The landscaping achieves year-round greenery, flowers in every season, vibrant colors, and dynamic seasonal changes.

Plum Garden Landscape:

Located in the western part of the scenic zone, the Plum Garden covers approximately 200 acres and is a key classical-style garden attraction within the scenic area, centered around plum blossoms. It gathers various types of plum blossoms from across the country and is complemented by classical garden structures such as pavilions, corridors, trellises, towers, studios, a Plum Culture Museum, streams, and bridges, offering visitors a unique plum blossom viewing experience in northern Jiangsu.

Water Park Landscape:

The water park covers 60 acres and features main facilities including a national-standard swimming pool, wave pool, rainbow slides, children’s playground, space bowl, 5D cinema, dinosaur habitat, and 24 types of amusement rides. On June 20, 2015, it launched Yancheng’s first large-scale “water obstacle challenge” event and evening “talent show” activities.

Sports and Leisure Landscape:

The scenic area has carefully developed various sports and fitness venues, including the East Entrance Square, South Entrance Square, and Sculpture Square, covering a total of over 30,000 square meters. There are also sports facilities spanning more than 2,000 square meters for basketball, tennis, gateball, and beach volleyball, as well as a sports plaza with over 2,000 square meters equipped with equipment such as horizontal bars and parallel bars. A 1,000-meter-long, 5-meter-wide colored cycling track has been built to greatly facilitate public fitness activities.

Plum-Appreciation Pavilion Landscape:

In the highland central area of the scenic zone stands a three-story, 26-meter-tall classical hexagonal pavilion known as the Plum-Appreciation Pavilion (咏梅阁). Visitors can climb to the top for panoramic views of the entire scenic area and the surrounding Dafeng District. The pavilion also offers recreational activities such as tea drinking and chess playing.
