The nation’s first music-synchronized light show on the Bitan Suspension Bridge has offered diverse themed performances aligned with different seasons and holidays since its launch in late July last year—showcasing exceptional creativity and visual appeal. As the Lunar New Year approaches, from today (the 17th) until February 14, the Bitan Suspension Bridge light show will feature festive celebratory songs to mark the season. Families are invited to visit Bitan during the Lunar New Year period to enjoy the vibrant bridge light show, which runs every hour from 18:00 to 21:00 each evening.

To celebrate the Lunar New Year, the Bitan Suspension Bridge light show will present a cycle of nine major themes: “Joyful Loud Celebrations,” “Reaching New Heights,” “Prosperity Abounds,” “Turning Fortune Around,” “Spring Returns to the Earth,” “Blooming Spring,” “Wealth Flows Where Water Goes,” “Colorful Sunset Glow over Bitan,” and “Blessings of Wealth and Honor.” Each light performance lasts approximately three minutes. The New Year light show uses a color scheme dominated by gold and red: gold symbolizes wealth and treasures, bringing prosperity and a bountiful harvest in the new year, while red represents festivity, wishing everyone a spring-filled world and blessings at their doorstep.
During the Spring Festival, from Lunar New Year’s Day to the fifth day (January 31 to February 4), the waterfront business district will launch “Waterfront Spring Strolls – Enjoy the Scenery and Delicious Food” and the “Spring Festival Money Grab – Grab Good Fortune for the New Year.” In addition to live music performances and ShenYou Ji shows, diners who spend a minimum of NT$2,000 per table can try their luck grabbing cash vouchers to usher in good fortune for the new year.

During the Lunar New Year holiday, the Bitan area and its streets are filled with joyful festive atmosphere. In addition to enjoying the beautiful scenery nestled between mountains and water, visitors can also immerse themselves in the cheerful holiday spirit. While in Bitan, don’t miss the chance to explore nearby alleys and old streets for local delicacies and traditional treats such as rice noodle soup, pig’s blood cake, caramelized cured meats, and century-old bakeries. Hiking and photography enthusiasts can also hike the Hemeshan Trail for a refreshing phytoncide-filled journey, or plan a fulfilling one-day trip followed by a visit to the Wulai Scenic Area—renowned for its hot springs, cherry blossoms, and waterfalls—to soak in the springs, admire the blossoms, and enjoy the falls.
