Memorial Hall of the Seven Victories in Seven Battles in Central Jiangsu

The Memorial Hall of the Seven Victories in Seven Battles in Central Jiangsu is a national AAA-level tourist attraction, a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

Located in the city center of Hai’an County, Jiangsu Province, at No. 91 Ninghai South Road, Hai’an Town, the memorial was built in 1986. Originally named the “Management Office of the Monument to the Seven Victories in Seven Battles in Central Jiangsu,” it was renamed the “Memorial Hall of the Seven Victories in Seven Battles in Central Jiangsu” in 1998. It is a Jiangsu Provincial Patriotic Education Base and a Jiangsu Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The memorial covers an area of 21,000 square meters and includes a monument, an exhibition hall, a national defense park, and a square. It features the world-famous “World’s No. 1 Bayonet” and the “China’s First Victory” stele corridor.

The monument was designed by Qi Kang, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, one of China’s top ten architects, and professor at Southeast University. The base of the monument consists of thought-provoking elements including a sand-blasted ground, geometric pits, lawns, carved stone retaining walls, toasting cups, progressively rising steps, and a scroll-style stele wall. Ji Pengfei, former Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, inscribed the “Monument to the Seven Victories in Seven Battles in Central Jiangsu.”

The front of the exhibition hall features seven guns pointing skyward in celebration of victory. Inside, the hall displays a large number of historical photos, hundreds of cultural relics and historical materials, as well as over 500 works by central leaders and calligraphers and painters from across the country, recreating the battle process and victorious scenes of the Central Jiangsu Campaign.

The national defense park displays various weapons used by the Chinese military in different periods, including cannons, tanks, and missiles. It serves as an intuitive and effective educational resource for national defense and revolutionary tradition education.

The Seven Victories in Seven Battles in Central Jiangsu: Also known as the Central Jiangsu Campaign, it marks the starting point of victory in the nationwide War of Liberation. From July 13 to August 27, 1946, under the command of Su Yu and Tan Zhenlin, the Central China Field Army, with a force of 30,000 troops, faced off against 120,000 U.S.-equipped enemy troops. They fought seven consecutive battles, winning each one and achieving the victory of annihilating more than 53,000 enemies.
