With temperatures soaring to around 35°C across the country in the scorching summer, those who fear the strong sunlight but still want to travel might consider “nighttime adventures.” A local online platform organized a vote for the top 10 most relaxing nighttime destinations across Taiwan, featuring the most unique night spots in the country. After an online poll, the top 10 most popular nighttime attractions in Taiwan have been revealed.

No. 1 ─ Lihpao Land’s Light Fantasy Carnival in Taichung:
Featuring over 5 million LED lights, it creates Taiwan’s only nighttime light theme park, sparing visitors the sweltering heat of midsummer. In addition to the dazzling illuminations from the park’s facilities at night, the event also invites Japan’s only light painting master — a world-exclusive — allowing the public to enjoy his incredible artwork for free. Every evening also features the Water Blast Festival, offering visitors a spectacular visual experience through colorful water dances, five-story-high water jets, large-scale luminous robot shows, and a massive 200,000-ton water spray.

No. 2 ─ Dadaocheng Wharf:
The wharf serves as a boarding port for the Tamsui River Blue Highway, with cozy coffee spots nearby where you can enjoy the evening breeze while taking in the illuminated shoreline. Nearby Dihua Street and Xiadeli Temple offer countless traditional delicacies. On summer evenings, there’s also the “Summer Evening Breeze Night Cruise,” which lets you admire the reflections of high-rise buildings along both banks of the Tamsui River on the water. The annual “Dadaocheng Fireworks Festival” is also a major summer celebration in northern Taiwan.

No. 3 ─ Gukeng Night Scenery in Yunlin:
Gukeng, known as Taiwan’s “coffee hometown,” is also one of the few private spots in Taiwan where you can see a night view spanning five counties and cities. With elevations between 600 and 1,500 meters at mid-to-low altitudes and no obstructions nearby, you can gaze at the nightscapes of Chiayi, Yunlin, Changhua, Nantou, and Taichung. Dubbed Taiwan’s “million-dollar night view,” sipping on rich, authentic Gukeng coffee while admiring the magnificent Huashan night scenery is definitely a delightful summer experience.

No. 4 ─ Haian Road Art Street in Tainan:
Haian Road Art Street, now one of Tainan’s must-visit attractions, was transformed by a group of artists who used street art to redefine the city’s style. As the art project developed, shops began to spring up along the street. Within just a few hundred meters, open-air cafes, beverage shops, pubs, fashion boutiques, and food stalls connect to form a charming night pearl. It’s also a popular nightlife hub for young people and office workers after work. Notable artworks on the street include Blue Print, Haian Lights Up, Iron Flowers Bloom, Strange Flower Forest, Come Sit, and Yongchuan Grand Sedan Chair.

No. 5 ─ Ruifeng Night Market in Kaohsiung:
Located in the prime area of Zuoying District, Kaohsiung, this night market has a 20-year history and is the largest and best-managed night market in the city. With over 1,000 stalls selling a wide variety of food, it has become a popular gathering spot for locals to stroll and snack at night.

No. 6 ─ Eslite Dunhua Store in Taipei:
Positioned around the themes of “humanity, art, creativity, and lifestyle,” it pioneered the innovative 24-hour bookstore business model. With 100,000 book titles and 230,000 volumes, it offers book lovers a wealth of reading choices and is also a vibrant hub for frequent cultural and artistic events. It was named “The Best of Asia” by TIME Asia Edition as Asia’s best bookstore and is one of Taiwan’s unique cultural landmarks.

No. 7 ─ Xingyue Sky, a Scenic Restaurant in Bagua Mountain, Nantou:
Located next to the Monkey Well Recreational Area in Nantou City, Xingyue Sky is the highest scenic restaurant on Bagua Mountain and the only one in Nantou with views of the high-speed rail. Each seating area in the restaurant’s interior has a different themed style, and the garden features tea fields and osmanthus trails. From here, you can overlook the sweeping panorama of thousands of twinkling lights below.

The Huashan Park is mainly divided into outdoor art spaces and indoor performance venues, making it a professional venue dedicated to arts and culture. No. 9 ─ Hongludi Night View in Zhonghe:
The Hongludi Temple in Zhonghe, dedicated to the Earth God, is not only highly revered but also home to Taiwan’s tallest statue of the deity. Unlike typical temples, the Hongludi Temple sees increasing numbers of worshippers as the night deepens. Even at 2 or 3 a.m., the temple remains crowded with devout visitors. The temple’s location offers a commanding view of the Taipei Basin, the Dahan and Xindian Rivers, as well as distant sights of the Guanyin and Datun Volcano Groups and the Tamsui Estuary. It’s no wonder this enchanting view has become a favorite hidden gem for night owls.
