Gucun Country Ecological Park

Gucun Park is located in Gucun Town, Baoshan District, Shanghai, extending north to Shapu, south to Zhuzaobang, adjacent to S20 (the Outer Ring North Avenue), bordered by Hutai Road to the east and Chen Guang Road to the west. The planned total area covers 434.5 hectares (with planned construction land spanning 350.3 hectares). The relocation for the park began in August 2007, with plans to develop it in two phases over five years. Phase one includes 133.3 hectares of planned construction land, with a trial opening covering 70 hectares. Phase two covers 217.0 hectares of planned construction land and will commence within the year. Once fully completed, it will become the largest country ecological park in Shanghai—equivalent in size to three Shanghai Pudong Century Parks.

Gucun Park is a large urban country forest park integrating functions such as ecological protection, landscape viewing, leisure fitness, cultural entertainment, and tourism. The completed phase one spans approximately 180 hectares and features “one axis, one belt, three zones, and seven gardens.” The “one axis” refers to the Yuelin Avenue scenic development axis. The “one belt” is the 100-meter-wide ecological buffer forest along the Outer Ring Road. The “three zones” are the landscape and supporting service areas at the eastern, southern, and northern entrances. The “seven gardens” include the Exotic Garden, Forest BBQ Garden, Country Forest Garden, Forest Stroll Garden, Children’s Forest Carnival, Forest Sports Garden, and Botanical Garden.

Gucun Park boasts rich vegetation. The park plans to launch seasonal flower tours themed “cherry blossoms in spring,” “lotus flowers in summer,” “osmanthus in autumn,” and “plum blossoms in winter” to enrich the appeal of the Gucun eco-tourism cluster. In spring, while enjoying cherry blossoms, visitors can also admire flowers such as violet tricolor and azaleas, experiencing a vibrant rural spring. In summer, the 2.5-hectare lotus pond offers a unique early-summer ambiance. Autumn brings the fragrance of osmanthus, and a stroll along the ginkgo avenue covered with golden leaves feels like wandering through an autumn fairy tale. By winter, the scent of plum blossoms fills the air, and magpies perch on branches, showcasing the vitality of nature.
