The Exhibition Hall of the Good Eighth Company on Nanjing Road serves as a base for patriotic education and national defense education.

The History Room of the Good Eighth Company on Nanjing Road was built in 1963 and expanded and renovated in April 1993 before the 30th anniversary celebration of the company’s designation, at which time it was renamed the Exhibition Hall of Deeds. In 2003, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the “Good Eighth Company” title, the exhibition hall was rearranged and redecorated again, equipped with a touchscreen computer inquiry system, large-screen TV projection, and other facilities. Combined with lighting, sound, and multimedia effects, it forms a national defense education base integrating ideological and artistic elements. The exhibition hall has been recognized by Shanghai as a Youth Education Base and a Patriotic Education Base, and in 2001, it was named a National Patriotic Education Demonstration Base by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee.

The exhibition hall covers an area of more than 1,200 square meters and is divided into an exhibition area and a screening room. The exhibition area spans approximately 900 square meters and is divided into three sections: the first section, titled “Warm Care and Meticulous Nurturing,” mainly displays the care given to the company by three generations of party leaders, military commissions, headquarters, military districts, and Shanghai municipal leaders, including inscribed calligraphy from leaders for the Eighth Company; the second section, “Fight with Valor, Forge Ahead,” primarily showcases the history and exemplary experiences of the Eighth Company from its establishment to its stationing in Shanghai; the third section, “Keeping Pace with the Times, Facing the Future,” highlights the achievements of the company in its development over the past decade, as well as its participation in major construction projects across Shanghai and the deep affection shown by the public toward the company. The screening room is about 50 square meters and is equipped with a large-screen projection TV, featuring documentaries such as “The Good Eighth Company, Known Far and Wide” and “Marching with the Times,” which can accommodate up to 80 viewers simultaneously.
