The Shanghai Campaign Yuepu Battle Memorial Monument serves as a patriotic education base.

In the early hours of May 13, 1949, the first shots of the Battle of Shanghai were fired in Yuepu. As an important physical testament to the liberation of Shanghai, in May 2002, the People's Government of Yuepu Town, Baoshan District, built the Shanghai Campaign Yuepu Battle Memorial Monument in Yuepu Park. The monument faces south and sits on a base made of reddish-brown marble, solemn and dignified, symbolizing the fiery hearts of the soldiers and commanders, and the blood of nearly two thousand revolutionary martyrs that irrigated our sacred land in Yuepu. The main body of the monument features statues of two People's Liberation Army soldiers raising the red flag high and holding steel guns, filled with fury—symbolizing the fearless spirit of the officers and soldiers who fought relentlessly and fearlessly for the liberation of Shanghai and the welcome of new victories. Beside the soldiers lie the ruins of a captured enemy bunker, symbolizing the arduousness and intensity of the Yuepu battle. The backdrop of the monument consists of evergreen pine and cypress trees, representing the everlasting patriotism of the revolutionary martyrs. The monument stands 5.15 meters tall, marking the liberation of Yuepu Town on May 15. Including the flower stand, the total height reaches 5.27 meters, symbolizing the victory and liberation of Shanghai on May 27. Student groups and individual visitors can enter free of charge. The site also provides free venues and assistance for organized party activities such as commemorating martyrs, new member induction ceremonies, as well as youth events like coming-of-age ceremonies at 18, and joining the Communist Youth League or Young Pioneers.
