Zhaobei Primary School Memorial Monument

The Zhaobei Primary School Memorial Monument is a patriotic education base.

Gongfu New Village Primary School is the former site of Zhaobei Primary School. During the “August 13th” Anti-Japanese War, Zhaobei Primary School was a stronghold for the underground organization in Gucun area, with the office of the Shanghai North District of the Municipal Working Committee of our Party located there. Party members, posing as teachers, upheld the principles of diligent study, hard work, and forming friendships. They widely conducted activities, united workers and peasants, and continuously expanded the influence of the revolution. They successively developed over thirty activists from various social strata into Party members, enabling the Party organization in the Zhaobei area to be continuously consolidated and strengthened.

In 1987, Zhaobei Primary School relocated from Jiangjiazhai to Yangshuyuan and built a new formal primary school. A memorial monument was erected at the southeast corner of the school. In 2004, when Fuchang Road was expanded at the western end of Gongfu New Village, the monument was moved to Gongfu New Village Primary School.
