Monument Site of the Unknown Heroes

The Monument Site of the Unknown Heroes is a protected cultural heritage site of Shanghai Municipality.

The Monument Site of the Unknown Heroes is located within SITang No. 2 Middle School on Aihui Road in Baoshan District. "January 28th" is an unforgettable day for the citizens of Shanghai.

The Battle of Shanghai, which took place in Shanghai, saw countless heroes sacrifice their lives for the nation. Today, as we honor the fallen, we should also mourn those unnamed heroes who gave their lives resisting foreign aggression but left no names behind.

The memorial site is situated at the northwest corner of the school playground, featuring a granite base with a design resembling broken walls. To the southeast stands a municipal stele; the front side bears inscriptions and an embedded bas-relief of a city gate, along with three carved artillery shells at the base; the back displays the four large characters “Righteousness Soars to the Heavens.” On April 4, 2014, it was designated as a “Protected Cultural Heritage Site of Shanghai Municipality.”

The memorial site is located in the northwest corner of the playground, featuring a granite base and a sculpture of broken walls; to the southeast stands a plaque inscribed by the municipal government; the front bears an inscription and a relief embedded with the image of a city gate tower, with three cannonball reliefs at the bottom; the back displays the four large characters "Righteousness Reaching the Clouds." On April 4, 2014, it was designated as a "Shanghai Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit."
