Pingliang Park

Pingliang Park is located in Daqiao Subdistrict, Yangpu District. The site was originally a garbage dump. The park was planned in 1957, opened on January 20, 1958, and expanded in 2001 to cover an area of 1.36 hectares.

The park is situated among a cinema, factories, and residential buildings. In its central area, there is a rectangular lawn mainly planted with magnolia trees, with a teahouse to its north. In the dense woods at the southern corner, a corridor and flower stands are nestled beside a lotus pond. A hexagonal pavilion in the northeast corner is built against a small hill, with flowers planted around rocks. To the north of the pavilion, a wisteria-covered corridor is hidden among a cluster of podocarpus trees. The tall and upright cryptomeria and metasequoia trees, along with the pomegranate garden that blooms and bears fruit in summer and autumn, create a tranquil retreat despite the surrounding urban bustle. In 1999, in response to the municipal government’s call for nationwide fitness, 30 pieces of fitness equipment were installed in open spaces within the park, providing nearby residents with a pleasant place for exercise and relaxation.
