Modern Architecture of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology

The modern architecture of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

Located at No. 516 Jun Gong Road, Shanghai, on the former site of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology (now part of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology). Originally named Shanghai Baptist College, it was founded in 1906 by the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society (North and South China). In 1914, it was officially renamed the University of Shanghai. The site preserves 35 major buildings from the University of Shanghai period, making it one of the most well-preserved complexes of church school architecture in Shanghai. These buildings are mostly constructed with plain red bricks and feature double-sloped red-tiled roofs, presenting a unified style. Some are nestled among lush greenery, while others stand in contrast with modern structures, forming a beautiful landscape at the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology.

On October 7, 2019, the modern architecture of the University of Shanghai for Science and Technology was included in the eighth batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
