Meichuan Park

Meichuan Park is located in the western part of Putuo District at No. 2361 Wuning Road. The park was master-planned by the Shanghai Landscape Architecture Design Institute, with construction drawings designed by the Putuo District Landscape Design Office and construction contracted to Shanghai Greenboat Landscape Construction Co., Ltd. With a total investment of 7.35 million yuan, construction began in 1999 and it officially opened to the public in December 1999.

Meichuan Park embodies the theme of "people-oriented, green-focused," emphasizing harmony between humans and nature. It employs landscaping techniques using over 50 plant species, forming a green landscape characterized by multi-layered tree canopies as the framework and plum blossoms as the thematic tree species. The varieties of plum include wintersweet, flowering plum, white silk plum, pearl plum, weeping plum, camellia plum, myrtle-leaved plum, bayberry, and witch hazel. Within the long, narrow layout of the park, the lawn and sparse woodland plaza serve as the two main recreational spaces. A shaded walkway runs through the entire park, interwoven with floral-patterned tree and flower beds. Unique hexagonal pavilions, colorful flower fields, and stacked stone features are captivating. The over 200-meter-long pebble health trail is the longest of its kind in the city. The park also features leisure amenities such as newspaper kiosks and stone benches, thoughtfully arranged along scenic spots.
