Shanghai Ganquan Park

Ganquan Park is a supporting park planned for the Ganquan residential area during the Ninth Five-Year Plan period. In 1997, it was listed as a practical project of the Shanghai Municipal People's Government. Located in the eastern part of Putuo District at No. 100 Xixiang Road, the park was designed by the Shanghai Landscape Architecture Design Institute and constructed by the Putuo District Garden Authority. Construction began in July 1997 and it was officially completed and opened to the public in December 1997. The park covers an area of 31,571 square meters.

The park is planned with a focus on health and wellness features, adopting an ecological landscaping approach that primarily uses vegetation to shape the environment. It creates picturesque lake and mountain views while also allocating more space for activities for the elderly and children, complementing the adjacent Ganquan Yuan residential community.

The park has two entrances in the east and west, and is divided into six functional sections: the Main Scenic Area, Yixin Pavilion, Happy Land, Tianle Dance Square, Linjia Autumn Scenery, and Hundred-Step Green Corridor. These six sections are both distinct and interconnected, forming an organic whole. The park is planted with over 120 species of plants including camphor trees, plane trees, silk trees, bamboo, osmanthus, red-leaf plum, crabapple, and azaleas.

Entering through the west gate, visitors follow the main pathway lined with blooming flowers and fragrant scents. To the right is the children’s playground, which offers a variety of play equipment. To the left is a open forest plaza nestled by hills and water, offering beautiful scenery. Each morning, the area gathers people for fitness and dancing. Walking up the steps to the platform, you’ll find an elegantly curved flower trellis with seating that overlooks the opposite hillside where a pavilion stands. In the distance lies Yi Le Gong Wu (Dance with Joy), a serene lake that is crystal clear, with willow branches swaying along the bank, artificial rockeries, and cascading waterfalls—offering delightful views and sounds. Crossing a small bridge and stepping on the pebble path, visitors can walk along winding trails surrounded by lush trees in an elegant setting.

Ganquan Park is a natural landscape park that emphasizes harmony between humans and nature, integrating sports, health, and recreation. It serves as an ideal leisure destination for local residents.
