Shanghai Trademark and Matchbox Label Collection Museum

The Shanghai Trademark and Matchbox Label Collection Museum is located at No. 251 Daduhe Road, Putuo District (within Changfeng No. 1 Green Space), and evolved from the 80-year-old Shanghai Match Factory. The main building of the museum has a distinctive design, consisting of three matchbox-shaped structures, supported by several columns resembling matchsticks. The overall design is very creative. It is currently the only thematic museum in China dedicated primarily to trademarks and matchbox labels.

The label collection museum has three floors, used respectively for displaying trademark items, exhibiting trademark releases, and providing catering services. The Shanghai Spark Museum houses over 200,000 types and more than 7 million pieces of domestic and international spark labels, along with about 100,000 types and over 3 million pieces of vintage trademarks including alcohol, tobacco, movies, posters, etc. The content is themed around "Lighting Up the City, Igniting Life" and is divided into three sections: the Origin of Trademarks, Fire and Humanity, and the World of Sparks. Among them, the featured facility is the Trademark Exhibition Hall, which displays some aged and valuable trademark items, such as the first trademark applied for by the Rong family.

The first floor’s “Origins of Trademarks” exhibition displays old trademarks, packaging paper, and various physical objects, bearing witness to Shanghai as the birthplace of China’s national industry and trademarks.

The second floor’s “Fire and Humanity” exhibits various primitive fire-starting tools, showcasing humanity’s long journey in pursuing the flame—from drilling wood for fire in primitive societies, to using sunlight mirrors in the Bronze Age, flint strikers in the Iron Age, lanterns in the Ming and Qing Dynasties, and finally to modern matches.

The third floor’s “World of Sparks” features three exhibition areas: “Foreign Sparks,” “Chinese Sparks,” and “Rare and Unique Spark Labels,” displaying over 200,000 types of domestic and international spark labels.
